Senior Pastor, Mark Brock

Mark was born in California, but grew up in the Wisconsin. He has earned his Masters of Divinity and Masters of Theology degree from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. While in Seminary, Pastor Mark served as an Associate Pastor for four years at First Baptist Church in Capac, MI. In 2005, First Baptist Church of Capac commissioned him to come to Bakersfield, CA to start a new church. He serves with his wife, Charity, and daughters, Sydney and Addison.

Associate Pastor, Phil Elie

Phil has earnd his Masters of Divinity degree from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary and serves in our church by directing music as well as serving as Pastor to our youth.  God has blessed us with both Phil and his wife, Juliana who are gifted servants at Crossway.  Their hospitality and kindness have been an invaluable asset to the unity of our church family.  They are expecting their first child in February of 2009.

• Preaching…Why?

  Why is it so important to have preaching that focuses on the truth of the word of God rather than on the audience?

  While you cannot separate the two entirely, it might be best to say that a church that focuses on clearly explaining the truth of Scripture is giving the hearers what is most important rather than what is most desired!

• Crossway’s Mission

  Crossway's mission can be summarized in two sentences.

  1) We want to reach those who do not know our Lord and we want to communicate God's grace to them.

  2) We want to reach those who are believers and we want to encourage them to grow in God's grace.
